Artist/Mother

Artist/Mother

🌿 Embracing the Beautiful Chaos 🎨✨

As I sit here, no paintbrush in hand and my little one not so little anymore, I can't help but reflect on the delicate balancing act that is being an artist and a mother. It's a dance between passion and responsibility, creativity and nurturing, and it's not always an easy one.

Today, I want to share a glimpse into the heartfelt journey of being a self-employed artist and the rollercoaster of emotions it entails.

I'll be honest, there are moments when guilt washes over me like a crashing wave. When I'm immersed in my work, I sometimes find myself yearning to be fully present with my family, to soak in every precious moment. But then, when I'm away from the studio, my heart aches to dive into my creative sanctuary, where imagination takes flight. It's a constant tug-of-war, but I've come to realize that this beautiful struggle is a testament to the immense love I have for both my art and my family.

Even when it's not the school holidays, finding that perfect balance can feel like trying to catch the wind. The truth is, there are countless administrative tasks that demand our attention as artists. We wear multiple hats, from artist to accountant, PR guru to website builder, and everything in between. It's overwhelming at times, and it can leave us feeling like there simply aren't enough hours in the day.

But amidst the chaos, I've discovered a tranquil oasis, a mindset that has brought me solace: mindfulness. Through mindfulness, I've learned to embrace the ebb and flow of life, finding gratitude in the moments of both creation and connection. It's about cherishing the small pockets of time in the studio, where every brushstroke feels like a whisper of my soul. And it's about savoring the cherished moments with my loved ones, where laughter and love become the vibrant colors of my world.

I invite you, dear friends, to join me on this journey of mindful living. Let's remind ourselves that we are not defined solely by our work or our roles as parents. Instead, we are multifaceted beings, capable of blending our passions and responsibilities into a harmonious whole.

So, to all the fellow artists and mothers out there, let's take a deep breath together and release the weight of guilt. Let's celebrate the beauty in our unique paths and the strength it takes to wear so many hats. Remember, it's in finding peace within ourselves that we can truly embrace the magic of the artistic journey.

May your canvases be filled with tranquility, and your hearts brim with creativity. 🌸✨
