Brushstrokes of a Busy Summer

Brushstrokes of a Busy Summer

Wow, it feels like ages since I last sat down to share some art-filled gossip with you all! I hope you've been keeping well and thriving in the world of creativity. Let's dive right into what's been keeping me busy this summer.

First off, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a week-long adventure at VARC (Visual Arts in Rural Communities). It was like a creative boot camp for the soul! This experience brought together years of hard work, passion, and inspiration, resulting in a whole new body of work that I can't wait to share with you. If you're curious about my VARC journey, you can read all about it on my blog: VARC Residency update – Dianne Bowell Art.

And speaking of sharing, one of the pieces I created during my residency had the honor of being featured in the Pineapple Black Summer Show this past August. Can you believe it? My work was displayed alongside pieces from 90 other talented artists. If you missed it, don't worry; I've got a snapshot to share with you right here!

But wait, there's more! I'm thrilled to announce that 12 other exceptional artists also joined me on the VARC adventure this summer. Each of us will have one of our pieces featured in an exhibition at The Auxiliary art space during the Middlesbrough Art Week (MAW) festival. I can't wait to see what everyone has been up to, and you can check out the entire festival program here: PROGRAMME — Middlesbrough Art Week.

Now, let's talk about my upcoming exhibitions. You can find my work in the "From the Studio" exhibition, located in the upstairs space at 2B gallery in the Hillstreet Center in Middlesbrough. This showcase features artwork from the Gilkes Street Artists studio group and talented artists from the Platform A studio group. It's all part of the MAW fringe festival, and it's going to be a blast!

But that's not all; I'm currently hosting a solo exhibition in the downstairs gallery space at 2B. It's titled "Whispers from the Past" and will be running until the end of September. Here are the opening times if you'd like to swing by and see it in person:

  • Tuesdays: 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Thursdays: 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Fridays: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturdays: 11:00 AM  - 4:00 PM

And the excitement doesn't stop there! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 30th, because we're hosting a FREE drop-in workshop session at the 2B community space in Middlesbrough. If you want to be the first to get all the juicy details, simply email me at dianne@diannebowell.com, and I'll make sure you're in the loop.

Phew! That's a lot of excitement for one summer, but it's all thanks to your unwavering support and encouragement. I can't wait to catch up with each and every one of you soon. Until then, keep those creative fires burning!

Sending you all my warmest regards and artistic vibes,

Dianne Bowell Art
